We are so fortunate to have such an incredible Music Minstry here at St. Patrick lead by Constantine Novotny. All are invited to come and worship with us each weekend and at several special musical events throughout the year.
St. Patrick's Shamrock Singers is an enthusiastic and motivated Children's Choir comprising elementary school students grades 3+. Children from all local elementary schools are welcome to audition for the Shamrock Singers. All they need is to love to sing and be able to sing in tune. The choir rehearses on Wednesdays from 5pm-6pm in the sanctuary of St. Patrick Parish, and sings at the 12pm Mass on the final Sunday of each month. The Shamrock Singers is an excellent opportunity for extracurricular music education, teamwork, friend-making, and understanding sacred music.
If your child may be interested in the Shamrock Singers, please contact Constantine Novotny at [email protected] to set up an audition. All they will need to prepare is either the "Happy Birthday" song or the first verse of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."
St. Patrick's Lorica Choir is the primary choir at St. Patrick Parish. It comprises people of all ages who love to sing hymns and pieces in four-part harmony. The Lorica Choir sings at the 10am Mass on Sunday mornings and rehearses on Wednesdays from 7-8:30pm. This choir may be a good fit for you if you have a strong voice and are able to read music.
Please contact [email protected] to set up a one-on-one meeting. This is not an audition, but an opportunity to hear your voice individually.
What does Lorica mean?
It is a prayer of protection named after the Latin word for a warrior's armor or breastplate. St. Patrick wrote one of the most notable examples of this type of prayer, known as the Lorica of St. Patrick, or St. Patrick's Breastplate.
St. Patrick's Folk Choir will perform on Sundays at 12pm and rehearse prior to Mass at 11:20am. The Folk Choir is an opportunity for casual musicians who love to sing and can carry a tune to help lead the liturgical music. Hymns will primarily be sung in unison or two parts, and instrumentation will feature folksy instruments like piano, guitar, mandolin, banjo, etc. Being able to read music is not strictly necessary, as long as you are able to learn melodies by ear and follow along.
Please contact [email protected] if you are interested in the St. Patrick's Folk Choir.
If you have a strong solo voice, are able to read music, and are comfortable and interested in leading the liturgical music, you may be a good fit to be a Cantor at St. Patrick Parish. Cantors usually sing in the absence of a choir at Mass on Saturdays from 5-6pm, at Masses on Holy Days of Obligation, or at funerals and weddings.
Please contact [email protected] if you are interested in being one of St. Patrick's Cantors.
